I bought this collar in this larger-than-my-dogs-needs size (Large), because it was sold out in his size (Medium). I figured I could shorten the collar length, and he'd have a funny meat-themed collar to sport. But this size of collar has a significantly heavier-weight chain than the medium collar has. While Jake's super-strong for a less-than-40 lb dog, I don't think having this collar weighing him down would make him a happy camper.I'll probably gift it to the 70+ pound lab/pit bull mix next door, since it is definitely in his size wheelhouse. And Chewy can sport a groovy meat-themed collar.I love this collar! My puppy was trained with a prong collar and now no longer needs it becauseshe understands leash pressure now. I had been looking for weeks for a chain martingale as it gives her information faster than the other martingale collars in the event she needs it. The only that would make it better in this design and size is a quick release buckle. Very pleased with purchase ?My min pin finally does not constantly pull on the leash.I was looking for a martingale collar that had the sound of a choker collar that we began out training with. The sound would make her realize she was starting to pull. The collar itself it thick and sturdy. The pink paisley color has held up quite nicely. The first one we received was twisted. They replaced it immediately and I was very satisfied. This is an awsome collar although I bought the wrong size. I ordered a small in another brand and it was wsy to large and an xsmall in this and i cant get it over my 12 pound hybred cats neck. AMAZON refunded me for the 2 that were 2 large so I am embarrassed to ask for a refund on this also. Just make sure you know the xsmall is really small. My cat is 30 percent serval and has a very skinny neck so i am going to try this one more time and order a small in this brand because this is truely a beautiful strong collar.I loved that I found a martingale that had not only multiple colors, but also great patterns to choose from. I purchased three of these, one for each of my dogs. They do seem to be durable as I have had them for a few months now and they still look great! Of course, they are easy to use and not expensive at all. However, I would rate them with five stars and even pay a little more for them with a couple of changes. First, they would be easier to use and stop any concern or slight reservations about them if they also had a clip for quick release clip should anything happen (ie, get the collar stuck on something). Second, there should be a small band to hold the ends together where it goes around the ring. Without this band, the collar sticks out until it gets broken in and also allows enough movement for it to loosen up a bit. I did have to retighten a couple of the collars until they were broke in enough not to have that loop sticking out. Also regarding the quick release clip, this is kind of needed since I was unable to tighten the collar enough to where the two rings of the collar are pulled together by the chain for corrections and not have them meet. This prevents a fully accurate correction without making the collar too small to easily remove it over their head. The quick release clip would allow the collar to be shortened enough so that during corrections the collar could tighten enough on their neck to fully get their attention, but still allow quick removal of the collar if needed. I hope my explanation makes sense! This does not have a fastener; it must be slipped over the head. It can be slipped off the head or thrown easily too. If your dog throws collars easily, get one with a fastener.I was so surprised when I opened this. It was a good price so was not expecting such a nice collar! Very well made & expensive looking compared to other collars I have bought.I was recommended to buy my 10 month old dog this type of collar to help with his pulling and leash training. It works very week and from the first walk there was a great improvement. It's important to fit the collar correctly but there's lots of advise and instructions available on the internet. The lead is good quality, made of good material with a great pattern. It arrived early!Bought a size medium for my new Bouvier pup,but its way too big! Actually huge! A size medium extends large enuf to fit a large full grown GSD Nice collar tho...its heavy fabric..a bit heavy with the weight of the chain.... especially when one side is double fabric when not fully extended. Keeping it for when my pups full grown or maybe use it for another large dog. Colour is exactly as pictured .Turquoise and Bright PinkChain stains the fur around the neck.I took it off and washed it thinking it was dirty but it's not. Someine else posted thatvit has made their white dog's fur grey which is exactly what has happened with our dog.Works great but a cheap chain??I also see this has a quality guarantee but no way to contact the seller?!?I have 4 dogs currently, but have been using these collar on my dogs for over 13 years! Highly recommend for anyone who’s looking for a good solid dog collar that feel secure when you’re walking your dogs this is the one you want! I have had issues in the past where the clips or snaps on other colours have broken and come off I will never use one of those again. I have use these collars on my American Eskimo Doberman Australian Shepherd and I have Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs I would never use anything elseI started using this on my 65lb + golden doodle and works really well. It fits nicely through his head and will tighten if he strays too far. I just give him a tiny tug and a command and he's right beside. Mind you, we had lots of training for heel and loose leash walking beforehand. This tool just helped with the training we've done earlier. Before we had the easywalk front strap but it seems like he didn't get the consequence when he pulled.
