This is a beautiful durable collar! Looks stunning tooWe adopted a dog from a shelter. She is sweet, but a little too submissive and had the strange habit of pulling backward on the leash. I supposed she had learned previously she could slip out of her collar that way. I have not had a dog do that before. She is NOT a breed with a narrow head, she is a bully breed. I guess her loose skin helped her wriggle out of the collar. The normal collar I had on her at first, would not stay tight enough to prevent her collar escape. I would have to tighten it every two days or so, and still did not feel safe that she would not be able to run free. This collar SOLVED our problem! For the first day, she tried her old trick pulling backward on the leash - no good, the collar could not come off! She seemed to learn that lesson quickly, and after 1 day, no longer pulls backward on the leash! I can now take her out with zero worries about our dog running off freely while we are on a walk! The other problem solved by this collar involves our dogs' submissive behavior. She will roll over at the drop of the hat - much more than is warranted - and then she wants to stay on the ground. This collar causes her to get right up and keep moving. I really believe this collar will help discourage her too submissive behavior and help encourage her toward normal "doggie self confidence".It is a beautiful collar, very well made. I love the purple lotus pattern. It is 1.5" wide, which is wide. I knew that when I ordered it, but still was a little surprised by the width. I have gotten used to it quickly, especially in light of the positive effects it is producing in our dog!I take in dogs from my local pound to "foster" until they are socialized or medically cleared and "adoptable." Sadly the majority of these dogs have never known a good home for their entire lives until I take them in - let alone have a decent collar and other necessary supples. Recently I took in a large breed labrador mix whose old collar consisted to be what appears to have been a 3/4" wide leather child's belt with jerry-rigged holes to make it work as a dog collar. I bought this collar as the dog pulls like a pack mule and for the life of me won't respond to the word "heel." The quality of the collar appears to be okay, the measurements I used to make sure this fits the dog appears to be lacking or the manufacturer has liberal sizing requirements. The dog's neck measures 18" in circumference, no problem right? so just to make sure I get the "large" 16"-27" versus the medium 12"-20." I had to cinch the collar all the way up to the martingale ring to get the collar to fit appropriately, and even then I can fit all 5 of my fat fingers between the collar and the dog's neck. Perhaps I or the manufacturer failed to appreciate the gap/extra length that the device requires for appropriate function with the martingale feature. In all honesty the collar works, the color/pattern is nice, but the quality strikes me as being lacking - I'll plan on using Lupine brand collars from now on - I use it for my own dogs and love that Lupine warranties them for life even if the dog chews through it! (warranty does not include normal wear and tear). End result, this is a decent collar, I imagine this dog's fur-ever owner will have to replace it in the near future though.I bought this martingale-style collar for my adult greyhound. It looks quite nice, appears sturdy and well-made, and I haven't had any problems. The D-ring to attach the leash to is very large and easy to find. I like that this collar is very wide (1.5 inches), more wide than most, so it is more comfortable for the dog than a more narrow collar. The only minus is it lacks an extra D-ring to attach license or rabies tag, etc, but the D-ring to attach the leash is large and has plenty of extra room for tags.I did made the mistake of leaving it in reach of my dog and he chewed on it, got about half-way through (he once ate part of a leather boot), but it appears to have plenty of excess strength and still be usable for my dog. I ordered a new one to be safe.I would recommend this or any martingale-style collar for any dog who tries to back out of their collar or pulls on their leash, but doesn't need something more drastic. Martingale-style collars are safer and more humane than a choke collar, since they are wide, made of material and can only tighten within a range, they are less likely to injure your dogs throat. You do need to buy the right size though (see the guide in the product description), my greyhound took a medium even though he is 80 pounds (greyhounds have narrow necks and heads).Great for training your lil pupper because as they grow it will still fit them and they won't choke themselves pulling on the lead, or be able to slip out by wriggling backwards. My doggo gives it 4 paws up! That's 20 lil toe beans...or 5 stars in human terms ?best collar I ever boughtbest collar I ever boughtWe ordered this adorable collar for our foster dog Hank who has a tendency to slip traditional collars. Game changer. We haven't had a single close call since he has worn this collar. I love the print it is very fitting for this superdog who leaps tall humans in a single bound! (We're working on that ) it's well made as well, I like that it is a little thicker than a standard collar. One note though is to ensure you have the collar tightened correctly and supervise wild pups while wearing it as the loop can hang quite low and poor hank managed to get his bottom jaw stuck into the loop when he was trying to bite the D ring. When pulled tight the two metal slides should have about 3 fingers width between them.Overall a great collar. Very impressed! The plastic bit (where you adjust the length) cracked after less than 1 year of using. We didn’t leave the collar on our pup for 24/7, only put the collar on when we took our pup out with leash …. So it is very disappointing to see the crack only after using less than 1 year… We have used this brand before, and those were quite durable…The print itself is cute… but the edge of the collar (the strap itself) was rough, so we have to be extra careful when we put the collar on our pup, to avoid scratching our pup’s eyes….
