Description
The Sleepypod is more than a pet bed, more than a carrier or car seat: it's a lifestyle. It's your pet's personal space, designed to fit his/her individual needs. Sleepypod pampers your 15 pound or smaller pet in luxurious ultra-plush and foam, providing comfort and security. The beauty of the Sleepypod is its versatility. A dog that needs to be aware of her surroundings at all times can be just as easily accommodated as the cat who likes his privacy. The secret is in the adjustable dome top. Removing the top altogether will give your pet the easy access of a standard pet bed, but as needs change, so will the options. In times of fear or stress the dome can be opened or closed by unzipping the center zipper and adjusting the sides. The bed is designed so that your pet can spread out in the way that is most natural for his or her sleeping style. The round shape will contour around your pet's body providing yet another layer of coziness. Because your pet will already be living in the Sleepypod, traveling will become much easier and less stressful for everyone. To safely transport your pet in the car, simply wrap the seat belt around the base of the Sleepypod and pull the shoulder belt through the top handle. The Sleepypod is designed for road trips and is not certified for use on commercial air planes. The Sleepypod Mini can be used both in the car and will easily fits under the seat on commercial airplanes (always check with your airline for their specific restrictions before flying). The black, ultra plush included in every Sleepypod is 100% polyester and is easily maintained with a quick vacuum or a dip in the washing machine: cold water, gentle cycle with like colors. Tumble dry on low. Do not bleach. All other components can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

I did a lot of research, hunting to find a very safe way to bring my dog out for rides in the car. It took me forever and it was really confusing at first. So many safety gear things being sold online and in stores say that they are very safe, have been tested, and so on. But they had not been? At least not crash tested. This company is serious about the safety of dogs, of our little furry friends that we love. They are a part of our family. This company actually tests their products in pseudo auto crash tests. I was shocked with how easily and terribly my little friend could be seriously, devastatingly hurt, gone. This POD is so well built. It does take a little practice to get the seatbelt attached around it. Practice makes pretty good so far. My dog likes being inside of it too. I am more focused on driving with her contained now.Its pricey but well made and truly has been tested and proven to save little lives. So far only a few other types of car safety gear for dogs have also gone thru these important tests done at a lab in the Univ. of Chicago. So beware of any other car riding gear you see for sale that says anything hinting at but not actually true, about having been proven to protect our little furry friends. Do your homework like I did to protect your dog while they are going to ride in car.Oh, I felt sod guilty and awful when I read up on how letting a dog sit in the front seat is the worst place for them, safety-wise.It took awhile, but my cat and I both now love this bed. I agonized over this purchase for months because of the price and because my cat is so picky that I was worried he would hate it. I had been using a plastic carrier that was way too big for my 8 pound cat and which I inevitably into doorways when I carried him. I read a great review of the sleepypod in a magazine and finally gave in. When I got it, I unzipped the top and let the cat sniff around and see it for a few days. He didn't like the smell at first and wouldn't use it as a pet bed. He also hated the faux fur lining, putting one foot on it and then running away. So I unzipped that and haven't used it. He never laid down in it over the course of 2 weeks and I started to think it was a huge mistake until I had to leave town so I decided he was going to learn to love the thing.I dropped him in and zipped it up and he was surprisingly calm. There was no fighting or howling or trying to get out like with the plastic carrier. And it's definitely easier to drop him in through the top than shove him through a door like on other carriers. When I took the carrier to the car and buckled it in is when I realized the true value of the sleepypod. The lap belt wraps around and velcros into the carrier and the shoulder strap velcros in to the top handle of the carrier. I felt so much better driving 2 hours knowing how safely secured he was--it actually made me embarrassed that he used to slide around in the plastic carrier unsecured. He was so much calmer and seemed so much more comfortable than he was in the old plastic carrier. He wasn't able to stand up in the sleepypod and he's a very small cat, but I don't know that he really needs to stand while riding in the car, so that's ok. He seemed pretty snug and I'm not sure how much room there would be for a larger cat or dog--I would recommend carefully measuring out the dimensions and comparing the size to something you already have, like a pet bed, before deciding on this is your animal is bigger.I had hoped that he would use it as a bed and safe spot while we were out of town, but he didn't. One of the small things I wasn't thrilled about was that I thought this was something that could be left open for the cat to jump in and out of in the house, even with the top on, since cats like to hide and feel safe when they think you can't see them. However, it's not designed to be able to do that. The top is too stiff to stay open, to the point where it's even a little hard to get it to stay open long enough to get the cat inside. I solved this problem by using large office binder clips to keep each side open. Once I got back in town, I unzipped the top and left the bed and the top, turned upside down so it's like a little bowl, out in the den for him to continue to get used to. He immediately jumped into the top-turned-into-a-bowl, curled up and went right to sleep. So, now he loves the thing and sleeps in it every day, but only the top. Overall, I'm glad I made this purchase--the only reason I took one star off is because of the high price.I am delighted to review the Sleepypod bed/carrier because I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who needs to travel with a small pet. I have two cats and we moved from Chicago to Charleston which was a three day drive. My cats are not great travelers...translation: they get terrified being forced into a carrier and leaving the house. I knew this was not going to be a pleasant ordeal. My cousin had used one for her cat driving from NY to LA and raved about it. I wanted to make this journey for them as comfortable and safe as I could. I will say the price was a bit shocking...especially when I have to buy two! But I read the reviews and watched the videos and it did seem worth the investment. And it was.It truly is brilliant design and quality construction and materials. They are gorgeous and extremely functional. I ordered the medium size round carrier with the domed mesh top that unzips from the round base...one in white and one in Chocolate. One cat is only 9 lbs so he had lots of room and while the other cat weighed 15lbs, there was room for her to comfortably curl up in there. The best part of these carriers is how they are meant to fit on a car seat and put seat belts thru a Velcro strap that straps the carrier very securely on the seat. really safe and secure and so easy to manipulate. Since my cats are not going to go into the carriers easily, the various zippers creating different access points is so helpful. You can unzip the top of the mesh dome, have someone hold it open, then slip your pet down into it as you or your partner zips it up to close. I'm sure with a dog it's a cinch...cats, not so much. Because they are scaredy cats, I sat in the middle of the two carriers in the back seat for awhile and unzipped part of the carrier at the side and put my hand in there so I could pet them in order to calm them a bit...another nice thing about the zippers and the mesh top. the cats could see me from all angles and I could see them too.The zip-out fuzzy liner feels so cozy, the cats love it. And I love it because it washed perfectly. One of the cats peed a little and I was able to wash it on the road and it came out perfectly and dried quickly. These are not just carriers but great beds as well. I kept the carriers out weeks before the trip, sans the mesh dome top, so they got used to seeing them and wouldn't associate them just with travel. Much to my delight, within a few days of checking them out, they began sleeping in them.I just can't rave enough about these beds/carriers and I love the colors I chose as well...a rich chocolate brown and the white is a nice clean looking white which somehow manages to stay clean and each looks great with the black interior and trim. And lastly, they are very sturdy, hardy and well constructed. Yea...what a find! Finally took the plunge and made the purchase of a second Sleepypod in black, I had really wanted the pink but it looks like Amazon are not going to restock as they had sold out buy the time I made my original purchase where I settled for the Robin Egg Blue. The Pink was only available for the hefty price of £212 from another Market Place Seller (Amazon had been selling all colours for £149) The additional £63 was too much to justify me wanting pink! I am still impressed with the product seems very sturdy and mine came with the PPRS lock - you can see my original review here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sleepypod-Mobile-Robin-Blue-Limited/dp/B00KWOHM28/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1520232144&sr=8-8&keywords=sleepypod . Well worth the money! Here is my original review:Finally took the plunge and made the purchase of one Sleepypod in the limited edition Robin Egg Blue, I had really wanted the pink but Amazon had sold out buy the time I took the plunge and was only available for the hefty price of £212 from another Market Place Seller (Amazon had been selling all colours for £149) The additional £63 was too much to justify me wanting pink! I am impressed with the product seems very sturdy and mine came with the PPRS lock. I have not used it yet buy my cat was very interested in it when we tried it for size, until she got a whiff of the plastic smell which was a little off putting for my cat - needs "airing" out. That said I checked the carrier this morning 12 hours after arrival and the smell is almost gone - so not really an issue. I am really impressed with the stitching and the inside bed looks and feels really comfortable. I hope it will serve us for many years to come.Just an update: I had started to think I was crazy spending this much on a cat carrier and was considering sending it back HOWEVER after today I'm sold on it! Our cat would get in it with the lid off but would not sit or stay in it and would jump straight out, on went the lid and it was like "get out of my way I wanna get in that!" Down she sat grooming herself purring like crazy and now gone to sleep. The top of the carrier is open so she can / could get out at anytime if she wanted too. Any of her previous carriers even if left out she would never stay let alone sleep in them. So I believe there is something to the fact it's round, the cushioning and luxury fabric inside. My only small niggle is like previous comments the top is quite stiff so if there was a fastening to hold it open would be an improvement but it may soften with use. All in it's a keeper well worth it and I hope Amazon restock this at the price I paid in other colours in addition to the black as I do really want the pink one!As a animal behaviourist practitioner it’s actually fantastic to have a round cat carrier that’s designed to have a cat in a more safe abs natural felling for the cat when travelling and you can get added to keep the cat cool or warm just a shame it’s not as easy to get in the U.K. . Plus the way you can make a good bucket fir small dogs to me safe and secure x I show sohynx cats and they love the pods so we have three .Our cat loves to sleep in this without the lid on, we use it as her bed.Its also simple to fit in the car and is very secure when were driving. It can be difficult to get the cat into the box if the cat is feeling difficult, if you are not careful you can get the cat's fur stuck in the zips, and this means it can be a little bit of a faff to get the cat in.If the cat is happy and settled in the box first, then its easy.I haven't used the clip for the harness, so cant comment on that.Excellent quality and sturdy yet comfortable interior, my small dog loves this - I use it day to day as a regular pet bed and then attach the ‘lid’ for travel - I love that this can also be used as a bed so it’s familiar to my dog. She doesn’t mind the top being put on and I love that you can open the mesh too. I found this easy to set up in the car and it’s very secure - it is expensive but will last for years and most importantly this is crash tested so you have reassurance that it is safe.Sturdy, excellent quality, cats love it and voluntarily get into it. Easy to strap into the car giving peace of mind that my cats are super safe.I bought one initially as I was only getting one kitten, however I ended up with two kittens. Having one carrier is great when they're small, but they're growing rapidly and they're Bengals so will soon outgrow this carrier (for 2) and they're not even6 months old. As much as I'd love to get another, I'm reluctant due to the price...which is the only reason I've deducted a star and given a rating of 4/5 stars.
